Partnership announced at Sinko ID Innovation Days will establish a dedicated clean energy testing and development facility at Rotterdam’s industrial heartland, combining supersonic gas processing and CCUS technologies.
Sinko Innovation & Development B.V. (Sinko ID, a division of Sinko Consultants B.V.), TwistR Energy B.V., and TriGen Energy Projects Development B.V. today announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the development and commercial deployment of innovative, low-carbon energy solutions. The partnership, announced today after the Sinko ID Innovation Days in Delft, will centre on a new clean energy testing and development facility being established by Sinko ID at a strategically located site in the industrial zone of the Port of Rotterdam.
The facility will provide TwistR Energy and TriGen Energy Projects Development with dedicated, industry-grade infrastructure for the testing, validation, and further development of their respective energy technologies, with Sinko ID acting as the site developer, infrastructure provider, and services partner.
“At Sinko ID, we invest in exactly this kind of collaboration: combining world-class technology with our innovation and development infrastructure at our Europoort location, with partners that fit within our ecosystem. The Port of Rotterdam is the centre of gravity for the European energy transition, and our facilities are right in the heart of it. We are proud to be providing the platform on which TwistR and TriGen can take their technologies to the next level.”
— Frank Hollander, Managing Director, Sinko Innovation & Development B.V.
The Partnership
The three companies bring complementary and mutually reinforcing capabilities to the partnership. Sinko ID has acquired a site in the Port of Rotterdam adjacent to an existing pipeline corridor and will develop it into a dedicated innovation and development facility for startups and scaleups in the energy and materials transition, including the buildings, laboratory facilities, utilities, and infrastructure required to support testing campaigns for industrial technologies.
TwistR Energy brings its proprietary Twister™ supersonic gas processing technology – a Shell spin-off with more than 20 years of continuous commercial operation, over 22 global installations, and approximately three million operating hours – to the partnership. The Twister™ technology portfolio includes the Supersonic Separator, the Hydrate Separator, and the SwirlValve, and is deployed by upstream and midstream oil and gas operators globally. TwistR Energy is now seeking to extend its technology to CO₂ capture applications, targeting ‘hard to abate’ industries.
TriGen Energy Projects Development brings its CCUS project development expertise and its deployment of Pressurised OxyFuel™ technology, enabling clean power generation from fossil fuels with integrated CO₂ capture and sequestration. TriGen and TwistR, as part of the same family of companies, offer a uniquely integrated combination of gas processing and decarbonisation capabilities.
“This partnership with Sinko ID marks a significant step forward for both TwistR and TriGen. Having access to a fully equipped testing facility in the Port of Rotterdam allows us to develop and demonstrate our technologies at the scale and in the environment that our customers and partners require. The synergies between the Twister™ gas processing platform and TriGen’s CCUS capabilities are real and commercially compelling, and Rotterdam is the ideal place to prove them. Sinko Consultants also provides valuable engineering- and project management know-how and capacity to support global deployment of TriGen and TwistR projects and solutions.”
— Pieter Kapteijn, CEO, TwistR Energy B.V. and TriGen Energy Projects Development B.V.
Announced at Sinko ID Innovation Days
The partnership is being announced shortly after the Sinko ID Innovation Days, held on 11 and 12 August 2026 in Delft. The Innovation Days bring together Sinko ID’s network of technology partners, investors, and industry stakeholders to showcase initiatives at the frontier of the energy and materials transition. The announcement of the TwistR and TriGen partnership reflects Sinko ID’s commitment to building an ecosystem of complementary, commercially proven clean energy and sustainable materials technologies around its Rotterdam facility.
What the Partnership Delivers
The partnership will deliver the following across its initial phase:
- A dedicated Innovation & Development facility at the Port of Rotterdam developed and operated by Sinko ID;
- Testing and validation infrastructure for TwistR’s Twister™ supersonic gas processing equipment;
- Testing and demonstration capability for TriGen’s Pressurised Oxy-Fuel CCUS systems;
- Sinko Consultants’ project management and delivery capacity to support TriGen and TwistR growth;
- A platform for integrated testing of combined TwistR and TriGen technology solutions; and
- A framework for the exploration of broader synergies between all three organisations, to be developed and announced in due course.
All commercial arrangements between the three partners will be conducted on a normal, arms-length commercial basis. The partnership does not create any exclusive commercial relationship between the parties.
